D29 New GIS database integrating all geological and geophysical data for the Hengill and surrounding areas
A Geological/Geographic Information Systems database has been established for Reykjanes Peninsula.
To date this consists of:
§ Geo-referenced color digital air photos in raster format covering the entire peninsula at a scale of 0.5 meters per pixel
§ Digital topographic map with 5 meter contours, in Arc Coverage format.
§ Digital elevation model (DEM) with 5 meter elevation resolution and 20 meter grid spacing in Arc Grid format
§ All available digital geologic maps in Arc Coverage vector format, including location of major faults, geothermal boreholes, hot springs, and areas of alteration
§ Three-dimensional surface motion maps from combined InSAR and GPS data
§ GPS plate motion vectors covering the period 1993 to 1998
§ Geodetic measurements showing local crustal deformation in specific areas
§ New fracture map in Arc Coverage vector format for a specific area, including attributes of length, strike, and fracture type as measured from digital air photos.
In progress:
§ Acquisition and processing of resistivity data for the entire peninsula
§ Additional fracture mapping
§ Slope analysis
